A Colorful Colorado Wedding | Sasha & Sean

Sasha and Sean find so much joy in building community and creating spaces to come together for the people they love. They love travel, food, adventure, live music and a dang good party. They aren’t afraid of a little boldness in their lives and that is exactly how they planned their wedding.

Since the majority of their guests were coming from the east coast and midwest, they wanted to make sure the mountain views were top notch and decided on North Star Gatherings in Idaho springs. The venue sits on top of a mountain with fantastic views of the Rocky Mountains. The venue is about 45 minutes from Golden, Colorado where guests stayed.

The ceremony was short and sweet with a beautiful orange floral installment from Marked By Alex. Sean and family walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of Strawberries by Caamp. Sasha walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer. The recessional was Kiss me by Sixpence None the Richer with lyrics all performed by Brian Kittrell.

Cocktail hour kicked off with appetizers and aperol spritz from GB culinary and stunning views for guests to enjoy.

They used a cookbook as their guest book- ‘Pasta’ by Missy Robbins. They love to make homemade pasta together and Sasha is a huge fan of Missy’s restaurants Misi and Lilia in Brooklyn from her years living in New York.

Cocktail hour concluded with their first dance on the deck, Never in My Wildest Dreams by Dan Auerbach, performed by a close friend- Jason Ballein.

The idea of hosting a bold dinner party for their guests excited them and that was the inspiration behind the floral and table design. Given that North Star Gatherings is a blank slate, they went with bold oranges and bright napkins. Alex Fairchild brought funky but elevated design to a fun color pallet and absolutely transformed the space. Once Sasha decided they were going with orange, she had an idea to honor one of her best friends who had passed away a few years ago suddenly. Matthew was never seen without orange trident gum, and so the trident center piece was made by Alex and placed directly in front of his family as a surprise tribute to him.

The band opened the dance floor with the Hora and the band- Maxwell Mudd with lead singer Brian Kittrell kept the dance floor partying all night long. Not your typical wedding band- with more emphasis on rock music and SO  incredibly good.

A highlight of the night was Sean’s friends surprising him by changing into their softball jerseys, a team in which Sean has managed for his friends for almost a decade.

The night ended with espresso martini shooters, cookies and brownies from Leven Deli and tartlets by Emily Madeline Chocolates and the dance floor lively as ever.
